FinanciallyHers, a program offered by Clarifi, will have monthly support groups beginning Thursday, June 14, 2012  at the Upper Darby Municipal Library. Facilitated by an experienced financial coach, this program is designed to help women open up about finances and learn new behaviors to have greater financial success. 
By attending the monthly meetings, women are able to: 
  • Reduce debt
  • Increase savings
  • Find financial balance
  • Learn long lasting financial habits and strategies
  • Gain a new perspective
Meetings will be from 6:00 to 7:00 PM with light refreshments.  There is no charge to join.

Club Crozer Medical Careers - Summer Program for High School Students*


Do you see yourself working as a nurse or a pharmacist? Maybe you envision yourself helping people as a social worker, a paramedic or physical therapist. The medical field is wide open to talented, caring people who have a passion for helping others and a keen interest in the medical sciences.
Is a Medical Career Right for Me?
If this sounds like you, then Club Crozer is your chance to explore allied health and nursing career opportunities in the convenience of a summer workshop. Designed for junior and senior high school youth in the community with an interest in health care careers, Club Crozer offers a five-day, structured week of hands-on learning, emergency care provider training, team building and problem-solving exercises.

Interview Skills

Does the thought of meeting with an employer give you pause?

Then join the Upper Darby Sellers Library for an Interview Skills Workshop!  Limited to 15 people, this workshop will prepare you to create an "elevator speech", feel more comfortable in a phone interview, and know what questions to expect.

Barbara Mock, Esq is offering a FREE interview skills workshop on Wednesday, June 6, 2012 from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM.  Barbara will draw on her 20+ years of experience to help YOU get hired.  As a bonus, participants will receive a one hour FREE personal practice interview and consultation with Barbara.

COPING: You Are Not Alone

Attention DELCO Parents and Caregivers

In collaboration with Parents Involved Network Delaware County, a ten week parenting education class is being held to accommodate parents and caregivers with mental issues.

The classes will be held weekly, beginning Monday, June 4, 2012 from 10 AM to Noon at 7200 Chestnut St, Upper Darby, PA.

Registration can be done by phone, fax, mail, or email.

Certificates will be awarded for completion along with an additional certificate for perfect attendance.  Refreshments will be served and SEPTA tokens will be provided.

GED Courses


Delaware County Community College recently announced registration is open for students who are looking to receive their GED. Summer courses are available to to help students prepare for the test leading to the Pennsylvania High School Equivalency Diploma.
According to the school, this 30-hour course covers all test areas: reading writing, English, math, natural science and social studies. It is recommended that students be at an eighth- to tenth-grade proficiency level before registering for this course.

Classes are offered during the summer at the Marple Campus (901 S. Media Line Road, Media), as well as at the College’s Southeast Center (Curtis Building, 2000 Elmwood Avenue, Sharon Hill), and at our new Upper Darby Center (Barclay Square Shopping Center, 1570 Garrett Road, Upper Darby).

Marple Campus sessions meet Monday and Wednesday evenings from 7-10 p.m., starting May 21 and ending June 25, with a second section running on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 7-10 p.m., starting July 3 and ending August 2. There will be no class May 28.

Classes at the Southeast Center meet Monday and Wednesday mornings from 9 a.m.-noon, running from June 20 through July 25. Upper Darby Center classes meet Monday and Wednesday afternoons from 2:30-5:30 p.m., beginning July 2 and ending August 1. There will be no classes July 4.

The cost for the course is $217, which includes the textbook and calculator, plus an additional $5 records processing fee. Delaware County Community College also administers the GED test at an additional cost; it is not included in the prep course.

Pentecost Food Collection

The Upper Darby-Drexel Hill Ministerium is calling on churches of the community to celebrate unity.  They are asking for donations of canned and non-perishable foods for the Greater Upper Darby Food Cupboard.  For additional information contact 610-853-2481.

The Food Center currently feeds approximately 20 families weekly.  Donations are always needed.
