August 2, 2011 National Night Out

Party With A Purpose: National Night Out

****Are you in CONTROL?****
Update to a previous post!
"National Night Out (NNO) is a night that neighbors across America can send a powerful message about neighborhood unity, awareness, safety and police-community partnership."

On August 2, Mayor Tom Micozzie, 6th District Councilwoman Raya Fagg, and 7th District Councilman Nate Goodson are partnering with The Upper Darby Township Weed & Seed Inc to host the first township nNO. This 'party with a purpose' will allow neighbors to learn safety tips and give back to the community.

It won't be all partying. At 7PM, a diverse group of members from faith based organizations will speak to the crowd about how we can fight crime and energize the community.

Neighbors are encouraged to bring a school supply for entry to win tickets to see Janet Jackson on August 8 at The Tower Theater. Supplies gathered will be used for a back to school rally that will be held later in the month.

Sponsors of this year's party are Target, Wawa, and the Franklin Mint Credit Union. There will be neighborhood civic association information tables, child ID kits, and activities for children as well as the adults.

The event will be held at the 69th Street, 505 South 69th Street (Intersection of Ruskin Lanes and 69th Street) from 5PM to 8PM. For additional information, you can contact Councilwoman Fagg at raya.fagg@gmail.com or by phone at 484-293-1813.
